Numer of players
Someone asked how many players were in the game. I would like to know as well. After the first day I was 10,000+, almost 11,000 as I recall, but finished 1,398th. Not a bad recovery, but out of how many?

I agree, but the purpose of the game was based on owning the stock for twelve months. If you went from 4/9/2007 until 4/7/2008, MSFT would be up 59 cents a share, whereas AAPL would be up $62.24 a share. In order to achieve the same profit you would have had to buy approx. 106 shares of MSFT (about $3029) compared to 1 share of AAPL ($93.65) based upon the closing price on 4/9/2007. I agree that if you only have so much to spend, it should be spent wisely. But AAPL would have been the better choice for the last twelve months, and for the next twelve.

Actual Bracket in 12mos
I have all the closing prices for the bracket stocks as of 3/26/08. I intend to get the closing prices as of 3/26 - 4/7/09 and calculate the biggest percentage of increase in price. Whether I will have a place to post here is the question, but will try.
Additionally, I agree this has just been a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the challenge. In the end I just want to know how the actual bracket results came out against the picks.
Love Fast Money and the panel, keep it going!!

Do you realize winning this will cost you $1200!!
Come on Fast Money, I love the show and the game is great. BUT YOU ARE STICKING TO YOUR WINNING VIEWER. Sorry, but $4500 for 2 plane tickets and 2 night hotel (no meals, ground transportaion, etc) is rediculous. Enjoy getting your 1099 and over $1000 in taxes. Maybe next year you'll come up with some more SWAG for the rest of us and realize your wiiner should not be taken advantage of to make an appearance on the show.

Reply to I had fun.Almost
For every share of Apple I buy ($145.06 on 3/26/08), I could buy 5+ shares of Microsoft ($28.56 on 3/26). So as of the end of trading on last Friday, my 5+ shares of MSFT would be worth $148 compared with AAPL's $153. Apple still leads, but by a very small percentage. So, the point is that I have X amount of money to invest, and I can either buy 5 shares of MSFT or 1 share of AAPL. Now it becomes a more interesting choice.

I went from 975th to 3963rd, but I had fun with the game. Many of the picks made by the traders went against what they were saying on the show earlier in the year, but what can you do. Most of my picks were based on these recommendations, but live and learn. But picking MSFT over AAPL makes no sense, Karen only picked it because it's cheaper. Also going by percentage gain would only work if all the stocks were the same price. 10% on MSFT gets you $2.91, while the same for AAPL gets you $15.32. Which one would you want for the next 12 months?

the perfect bracket
At the end of the year I would like to see Fast Money post what the perfect bracket would have looked like, along with the percentage gain or loss of each stock.

Hello People
It is just a game. If you are really hot and picked all the winners and actualy own them and sell..... you get to pay catital gains... you win! Just pray that Fast Money does not turn into a side show like Cramer's did. These talking heads at least are intertaining and do have some good ideas.

It's only a game - Enjoy it! And if you are sooo confident about your picks - Good Luck and happy Investing!!!
If you look at last years stats - they were right 4 out of 5.
Great job Dylan! God Bless you and your team!!!!!

rimm and the bracket...
how many of the "we are clueless" does it take for 5-6 financial "experts" to get this one very wrong?..it was in my final 4...tsk,tsk...

Game Objective??
If the purpose of this game was to pick the stocks with the biggest percentage gain in 12mos then it looks like we have serious difference of opinion. Apple will beat Microsoft hands down.
Is there any plan to track the actual results of these "Official" picks? I think it would bring a great dose of reality to the Expert picks.
Posted by: Dave's Fav's on 4/4/2008 10:48:00 AM
Microsquish over Apple Yeah Right
Are these guys for real?
Microsoft may go up to what $35 a share while the upside for Apple is $200 or more. Gee let me think I could make $6K or um $50K oh wait I'll take the sharp stick through the head.
Doh.

WTF!!!
MSFT > AAPL?!?!??!
Yeah right, msft is my grandpa's stock, aapl is the stock of tomorrow. 7% world wide market share in the PC industry and growing. Msft has lost public relations, launched terrible products, and hasn't innovated since I was still wearing diapers. Some of these picks have been terrible. If I were to follow all their advice I would be in the red right now, instead I'm in the black following my own advice. Rant over.

AAPL
Apple was my last hope.... now I am done. I don't agree with every pick but I just started a few months ago trying to figure out stocks. All in all, it was a pretty fun game.

I Love It,Though Disagree
I can't say I agree with all the panel winner/picks, though they all have made a ton more money than I... Enjoying the challenge of picking against the pro's and love the energy of Fast Money! Great concept for the season.

Pools: What, Why, Where, How
I am asked if I want to join a pool and/or if I want to create one. Questions: What are pools? Why do I want to create or join one? Where do I find out about pools? How do pools affect this game?

Chuckle!!
Folks, as I said earlier, "It is a game". Enjoy it! Fast money is a blend of info and entertainment. Would you watch if the "commish" was "bland" and "dry". Do you want "talking heads"?
This show puts a grin on my face, takes the edge off of the day, and makes investing human. The game furthers that.
Lighten up and play... or go play with your kids! Either will lower your blood pressure!
